Cameron Smith 

1st Year, Psychology Major

How has the Success Mentor Program (SMP) helped you succeed in UC  Merced?     

Having someone that understand how difficult it is to adjust to this new environment I find myself in was really helpful. I could talk to my Mentor as a friend and that was nice to have somebody in your corner. College is definitely an adjustment but thanks to the Success Mentor Program, it made that adjustment less stressful.

How has the Success Mentor Program (SMP) helped you succeed in UC Merced?     

The success Mentor Program has helped me adapt to this new environment which is UC Merced, as well as being able to succeed in classes. It also has helped me to network with others and become a more social person.

How has the Success Mentor Program (SMP) helped you succeed in UC Merced?     

SMP has been a great experience for me, the program has not only allowed me to perform better academically but also improve my networking skills. When I initially at UCM, I felt overwhelm, but my SMP mentor has helped me through the course of my first year. From the advice I receive to studying, or about joining new clubs, or even been able to ask a question who can provide the tools for success. SMP has allowed me to become a better person and student.

How has the Success Mentor Program (SMP) helped you succeed in UC Merced?     

I have learned and attained so much from the Success Mentor Program that I am proud of to say that I had taken part in. My Mentor, Eleazar helped me to get out of my comfort zone, to be a better version of myself and to get out there! Having someone you can talk to especially an upperclassmen, helped get through the confusing and most frustrating times of freshmen year. I wouldn't be the person I am today without my mentor and I'm glad that I made that informed decision to participate.
